Free vs Paid OnlyFans Accounts: What Is the Difference?

Updated October 20, 2026 · Ranking.bio research team · 8 min read

A free OnlyFans account costs nothing to follow and earns mainly from pay-per-view (PPV) messages and tips. A paid account charges a monthly subscription, $12.00 at the median in October 2026, and can also sell PPV. In our data, 25.3% of live accounts are free. Free pages are common at the very top: 6 of the 10 most-liked accounts are free.

What is the difference between free and paid OnlyFans accounts?

A free OnlyFans account lets you follow a creator and see the feed without a monthly fee. A paid account charges a subscription to see the feed. Both types can sell extra content in pay-per-view (PPV) posts and messages.

This comparison uses Ranking.bio data (64,466 listed creator profiles, checked 20 October 2026). Ranking.bio is an independent creator directory, not part of OnlyFans. On the day of our check, 49,345 accounts were live. Of these, 25.3% were free and 74.7% were paid.

  • About 12,480 live accounts are free (25.3% of 49,345).
  • Paid accounts cost $12.00 per month at the median and $14.59 on average.
  • 58.3% of paid accounts offer bundles for several months.
  • 6 of the 10 most-liked accounts in our data are free, and 10 of the top 30.
  • OnlyFans takes a 20% fee from every fan payment, on free and paid pages alike.

How do free OnlyFans accounts make money?

Free OnlyFans accounts make money from payments other than the subscription. The main sources are PPV messages, PPV posts and tips.

The OnlyFans Terms of Service list the ways a fan can pay a creator. They are a subscription, a payment for pay-per-view content, and other payments such as direct messages. A free page simply sets the subscription price to zero. It keeps the other ways to earn.

  1. A fan follows the free page at no cost.
  2. The creator posts some content in the feed. Some posts can be locked behind a one-time price.
  3. The creator sends messages to followers. Some messages contain locked content with a price.
  4. A fan who wants a locked item pays once to unlock it.
  5. Fans can also send tips.

The fee rule is the same for both page types. The Terms of Service state that the OnlyFans fee is 20% of the total fan payment. The creator receives the rest. A free page reaches more people, because following costs nothing. A paid page earns from every subscriber, every month.

For a fan, the key point is simple. On a free page, the feed is the shop window, and the messages are where many sales happen. Expect offers for locked content in your inbox. You never have to buy them, and you can ignore any offer that does not interest you.

What do fans get on a free page compared with a paid page?

On a free page, fans get the free feed posts and can choose what to buy. On a paid page, fans get the whole feed for the monthly price, but PPV items still cost extra.

The Terms of Service define a subscription as access to the content a creator makes available to fans, and they exclude individually priced content. So a paid subscription does not unlock PPV messages either.

How many OnlyFans accounts are free?

25.3% of live OnlyFans accounts in our data are free. That is about one account in four.

The free share changes by type of creator. Women have the highest share (25.9%). Couples are close (24.5%). Trans creators (21.0%) and men (19.5%) are less often free.

Trans1,81821.0%$12.0010,049
Couples1,59124.5%$11.9916,861

In numbers, this is about 10,625 free accounts among women (41,023 x 25.9%) and about 840 among men (4,310 x 19.5%). There are about 382 among trans creators (1,818 x 21.0%) and about 390 among couples (1,591 x 24.5%). Women run the large majority of free pages, because they are the large majority of creators. For the full dataset behind these numbers, see our OnlyFans statistics study.

Among paid accounts, prices cluster at a few points. The most common are $10 (4,150 accounts) and $9.99 (3,979). For the full price breakdown, read how much OnlyFans costs.

Are free OnlyFans accounts as popular as paid ones?

Yes, at the very top free accounts are more common than average. Of the 30 most-liked live accounts in our data, 10 are free (33.3%), compared with 25.3% of all live accounts.

The effect is stronger in the top 10. Six of the ten most-liked accounts are free. They include lilianaheartsss (10,388,250 likes) and PeachJars (9,792,535 likes), the second and third most-liked accounts. The most-liked account, Bryce Adams (13,124,243 likes), is paid at $6.99 per month.

The four paid accounts in the top 10 have very different prices. Bryce Adams charges $6.99, Mrs. Poindexter $14.99, Skylar Mae $30.00 and Mistress Cardi $49.00 per month. So a high like count can come with a low price, a high price or no price at all. Price alone does not decide how popular a page becomes.

One reason is reach. More people follow a page when it costs nothing, and more followers can give more likes. Likes do not show income, so a free page with many likes does not always earn more than a paid page. See the full list of most-liked OnlyFans creators.

Where are free OnlyFans accounts most common?

Free accounts are most common in Ukraine (45.3% of live accounts), Russia (42.4%) and Sweden (40.7%). They are least common in El Salvador (8.1%), Guatemala (9.5%) and the Dominican Republic (9.9%).

The largest markets are below the overall share of 25.3%. In the United States, 21.0% of live accounts are free. In the United Kingdom, 17.0% are free, and in Colombia 12.8%. Argentina is an exception in Latin America, with 33.8% free. In continental Europe, free pages are common in several countries: Switzerland (31.6%), Italy (29.1%), Germany (27.7%) and Denmark (29.2%) are all above the overall share. Country data is self-declared by creators, and it exists for 28,929 profiles. For all 40 countries, read OnlyFans creators by country.

Is a free or a paid OnlyFans account cheaper for a fan?

A free account is cheaper only if you buy little PPV content. A paid account has a known monthly cost, but PPV and tips can add to it.

The math is simple for a paid page. At the median price, a paid page costs $12.00 for one month and $144.00 for twelve months ($12.00 x 12). At the 90th percentile price of $25.00, it costs $300.00 for twelve months. A bundle can lower these totals. Our data shows that 58.3% of paid accounts offer one, so ask yourself how long you plan to stay before you choose. On a free page, your cost is the sum of the items you unlock and the tips you send. OnlyFans does not show PPV prices on profiles, so our data cannot give an average PPV spend.

All prices are in US dollars. Indirect sales tax (such as VAT) can be added, and your card provider can add currency conversion fees. Wallet credits that you prepay are non-refundable, according to the Terms of Service.

What are the pros and cons of each type for fans?

A free page is low risk, but its cost is open-ended. A paid page has a fixed cost, but you pay before you see the feed. The best choice depends on how you like to spend.

Advantages of free pages

  • You can see the creator's style before you spend any money.
  • You pay only for the items that you want.
  • You can follow many creators without a monthly bill.

Advantages of paid pages

  • You know the monthly cost before you start.
  • The whole feed is included in the price.
  • A bundle can lower the monthly cost if you stay for several months.

Some fans use both types. They follow free pages to discover creators. Then they subscribe to a few paid pages that they like. This is a simple way to keep spending under control.

Why do creators choose free pages?

Creators choose free pages mainly to reach more people. Following costs nothing, so more fans can see the creator's posts and messages. The creator then earns from the fans who buy locked content or send tips.

Our data shows that this model can work at scale. Free pages are 25.3% of live accounts, but 60.0% of the top 10 accounts by likes. Other creators prefer a paid page, because it gives a steady income from each subscriber every month. Some creators run two pages, one free and one paid, but our data does not track which accounts belong to the same person.

How do you choose between a free and a paid page?

Choose a free page to try a creator at no cost. Choose a paid page when you want the full feed for a fixed price. In both cases, set a budget for extras.

  1. Start with free OnlyFans accounts to learn a creator's style before you pay.
  2. On a paid page, check the photo and video counts first. The median live account has 66 videos and 266 photos, and 11.8% of live accounts have no videos.
  3. Check if the creator is active. Of accounts that show a last-seen time, 74.1% were online in the 30 days before our check.
  4. Look for a bundle if you plan to stay for several months. 58.3% of paid accounts offer one.
  5. Switch off Auto-Renew if you only want one month. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
  6. Decide in advance how much you will spend on PPV messages and tips.

If you see fewer messages than you expect on a free page, read how to unhide messages on OnlyFans. To compare creators by category or location, use our creator finder.

Paid content belongs to the creator. Sharing it without consent breaks the OnlyFans rules and can break the law. Free pages are the legal way to see content at no cost.
